Enclosure systems

Enclosure systems for timber frames vary greatly depending on your needs and budget and we can help you sort out the options. None of them are complicated and all have their pros and cons. If you don't intend to insulate, enclosing can be as simple as wrapping the frame with wide boards (or not so wide), either vertically or horizontally, applying house wrap ,trim and siding. If you do plan to insulate, your options are greater. Built up wall systems, either between the frame members or applied to exterior, with different insulation materials (fiberglass, cellulose, spray foam, rigid foam etc) are some of the options. And then there are SIPs. SIPs are manufactured panels with interior sheathing, exterior sheathing and insulation all sandwiched together and applied to the exterior of the frame. They're fast to install, highly energy efficient and the most common method of frame enclosure. Learn more about SIPs here www.sips.org.
